COVID-19 MASK SERVICE:
Due to the recent concerns about increasing Covid-19 cases in our state along with ordinances requiring masks, we are going to designate the 9:15 AM service as a “mask required†service. The 10:45 AM will remain a mask optional service. Although the mask ordinances exempt churches, having one service designated as “mask service†will enable us to minister more effectively to our members and community. We have many with health concerns who are reluctant to attend unless the congregation is wearing masks. Offering a “mask service†will make an on campus service available to more of our church family, who may have a compromised immune system or other high risk factors. As followers of Christ, we are called to accommodate the weaker brother or sister and to carry one another’s burdens. Philippians 2:3 says, “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, rather in humility consider others as more important than yourself.†Thank you for supporting this change to help us minister more effectively.
In Christ, Pastor Steve

NO DRIVE-IN WORSHIP UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE
Our Alabama State Denominational Leaders have been advised by the Governor’s Office to cancel all Drive-In services conducted by local churches and promote social distancing restrictions. Over the next few weeks, these restrictions may change allowing us to assemble according to recommended safety protocols. Until we can meet together as a church family, we will offer online services. Join us online Wednesday’s @ 6:30 PM and Sunday’s @ 10:45 AM.

Greetings FBC Alabaster Family!
As we look towards this Sunday, March 29th, we wanted to share an update with you about our worship gatherings. This Sunday we will be having Drive In Church in the North (Big) Parking lot of our campus! The service will be begin at our normal service time of 10:45am. Be on the lookout for parking attendants who will be directing you upon your arrival to the church. We had our Wednesday night Bible Study via these same means and we had over 60 cars in attendance, and we are looking forward to seeing as much of our church family as possible this Sunday in the parking lot! Arrive early to get parked and settled in for the service! Daniel and our Worship Team will be leading in worship and Pastor Steve will be preaching. Song sheets will be provided as well. THIS SERVICE WILL NOT BE BROADCAST ON THE RADIO. Make plans now to join us THIS Sunday at 10:45am in the BIG parking lot as we gather together for DRIVE IN CHURCH!
Also, this Sunday at 9:00am we will be publishing our Sunday School lessons for this week. Bro. Michael has recorded these lessons and they are being made available on Youtube for you to see. This is not a replacement or something to compete with our classes who are meeting in a virtual format, in fact we encourage you to gather in this manner if you can! These videos are simply an extra tool for you to use and for those classes who do not have the abilities to gather in an online format. The direct links to the videos are below, and they will go live on Sunday morning at 9:15am. You can access these videos from our Facebook page as well, but these are the direct links to our Youtube page. Please be sure to follow the link for your specific lesson, either Bible Studies for Life OR Explore the Bible.

FBC Alabaster Family,
All Sunday morning actives scheduled to take place tomorrow morning will still go on as scheduled. This includes both Worship Services at 9:15am and 10:45am along with all three of our Sunday school hours, 8am, 9:15am, and 10:45am.
ALL SUNDAY NIGHT ACTIVITIES HAVE BEEN CANCELLED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. This includes: Student Choir, KIDS Worship Academy, Bible Studies, etc…
For this Sunday night, this cancellation also includes the special Adult Choir rehearsal scheduled for tomorrow evening.
ALL WEDNESDAY ACTIVITIES HAVE BEEN CANCELLED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
This includes: Student Worship, Team KID, Celebration Choir and Orchestra, Praise Team, Bible Study, Fellowship Supper, etc…
This decision has been made after much prayer, discussion, and guidance. As mentioned, we are still meeting for our regular worship times tomorrow. However, we please ask that if you or a family member has a weakened immune system, health concerns, or is exhibiting symptoms of the flu or COVID-19 to use caution and stay home tomorrow.
You are welcome to watch an online broadcast of one of our services should you stay home from worship tomorrow. Go to our website at www.fbcalabaster.org and click on the “resources†tab and then click on the “sermons†tab from the drop down menu. That page will be regularly updated with our service broadcasts as they take place.
FBC Alabaster is still closely monitoring the situation revolving around COVID-19 as this is still a very fluid event. Additional information and/or changes will be considered and communicated at the appropriate time. If you have any questions, please call the church office at 205.663.3531 during normal office hours.
We hope to see you tomorrow!

UPDATED: MARCH 12, 2020

Dear First Baptist Alabaster Family,

We want to provide you with an update about our ministries related to Coronavirus (COVID 19). As we closely monitor and remain in conversation with healthcare professionals and other churches, we seek to respond with Christ-like faith and wisdom to limit the spread of the virus in our community, while maintaining a bold witness for Christ. First Baptist desires to combat the fear and panic many are currently experiencing with a spirit of hope and peace, which comes from the Lord Jesus. It is crucial that as followers of Christ, we show our city and the world our confidence and trust in the one true God, who is our refuge and strength.

With these competing forces of “social distance†and obedience to shine the light of Christ to a dark world along with the facts known at this time, we have determined that our services will go on as scheduled for all who wish to attend. We also recognize the situation and recommendations for our community may change. If and when additional restrictions are imposed, we will abide by those restrictions. Knowing the seriousness of COVID 19, our church will employ some additional safety practices.

Our facilities team is working diligently to keep high-contact surfaces clean and disinfected throughout the week and during service times.

When you greet others in services, opt for a smile and a wave rather than a handshake.

We will not be passing offering plates, instead will have designated areas around the worship center to collect offerings given on campus. We encourage you to visit fbcalabaster.org and give online. You can also mail tithes and offerings to 903 Third Ave N.W Alabaster, AL 35007.

Our Students and Children’s Ministries will continue their normal schedule. Our staff and volunteer teams have taken extra precautions as it pertains to cleaning all of our meeting spaces. If you or a family member have a weakened immune system, health concerns, or are experiencing symptoms associated with COVID 19 or the Flu, then please use caution and stay home. You are also welcome to watch an online broadcast of the services by visiting the church website and selecting “sermons†from the drop down menu under “resources.†

First Baptist Alabaster will continue to closely monitor the COVID 19 threat as it evolves. It remains very fluid and any additional information or changes will be considered and communicated at the appropriate time. If you would like more information about the virus and prevention measures, please visit the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) website.

Here are some ways you can help during this time:

PRAY: Ask the Lord for health; ask for wisdom among our health officials and civic leaders.
Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well (3Jo 1:2 NIV).
I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people; for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth (1Ti 2:1-4 NIV).

TRUST: The LORD is my light and my salvation--whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life--of whom shall I be afraid? When the wicked advance against me to devour me, it is my enemies and my foes who will stumble and fall. Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then I will be confident (Psa 27:1-3 NIV).

WITNESS – This virus has reminded many of us about our mortality. Many people are considering issues of eternity, so look for opportunities to encourage people, to pray with people, and to share with them “the hope that is in you†(1 Pet. 3:15).

STAY INFORMED - If First Baptist cancels any regularly scheduled meeting, we would communicate via email, social media, and the website. We will also contact local news outlets for listing with other closings.

We don’t always understand why a crisis affects our lives, but we do know that God is always in control. Even if we were surprised by this virus, our all-knowing and all-powerful heavenly Father was not surprised or caught unprepared. His grace is sufficient even in our weakness and failures. His love, grace, and power saves us from living in despair. We are “more than conquerors through Christ who loved us†(Romans 8:37).
We look forward to seeing you this Sunday.

In Christ,

Pastor Steve
