The Mission
Our mission is to provide worship experiences, educational processes, and opportunities of fellowship that advance God’s Kingdom by empowering believers in Christ to impact communities around them by serving as witnesses for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
This mission statement contains a desired result and the process through which the results will be achieved. The mission is to impact the communities surrounding our church—our Jerusalem. We are Kingdom people who strongly desire for the Kingdom to be advanced. We also understand that all through history God has chosen to use people to reach people. It is an honor and a privilege to be used by God as an agent of spiritual transformation.
With this understanding, that God uses His people to reach others, we as a church have a responsibility to equip people to accomplish this task.
Our conviction is that people who have a fresh, vibrant relationship with the Lord are the most effective witnesses. There is genuineness and authenticity in their life that is complemented by their testimony. We invest a significant amount of resources in helping our folks experience a fresh walk with the Lord. We believe worship, educational processes, and fellowship opportunities are key elements in empowering our members to be witnesses.
Much prayer, thought, planning, and effort go into every worship experience, educational opportunity, and fellowship event with the goal of helping people experience the presence and power of the Holy Spirit in order to be effective agents of spiritual transformation.

The Vision
First Baptist Alabaster, a Southern Baptist Church and an instrument of God’s love, will be known for passionately sharing His love as exemplified through Jesus Christ by building bridges into surrounding communities and beyond.
Several words stand out in our vision statement:
Southern Baptist Church – we are unapologetically connected by choice to the mission and causes of the Southern Baptist Convention. We are partners with the Shelby Baptist Association, Alabama Baptist Convention, and the SBC.
Instrument of God’s love – because we have experienced the immeasurable love of Christ we are empowered to demonstrate and share God’s love with others. Because God loved us while we were yet sinners, we can love all people. This love is not passive but dynamic.
Passionately sharing His love – passion is love on fire. When one understands that they were hopelessly lost and in need of a Savior and are confronted by the love of God that transforms us into a person with the assurance of eternal life we are passionate about seeing others discover what we have found.
Exemplified through Jesus Christ – Jesus is the embodiment of love. His birth, life, ministry, death, and resurrection all tangibly express the love Jesus has for all.
Building bridges – this is about connecting and relating to people. Churches choose whether to retreat from the world or embrace the world with the goal of transformation. We choose to connect in everyway possible. Relationships are the bridges over which we can carry the Gospel.
Surrounding communities and beyond – We are located in the heart of Alabaster. God chose to plant us here. He has also extended our influence throughout the surrounding communities, Shelby County, the state of Alabama, the United States, and the entire world. We will continue to live out Acts 1:8.
