"Joyful  Hearts"  Missions  Opportunities

In the spring of 2008,  2009 and 2010, it was our joy to take a day to serve in coordination with Habitat for Humanity to help build houses for needy families.   We not only worked on building houses, we worked on building relationships.   The men helped with light construction, and the ladies helped with light construction, meals or clean-up.

Since October 2008, we have had an annual Joyful Hearts Mission Trip on Wednesday through Saturday of the 2nd weekend of October each year.   We have served the Lord in Gulf Shores, Alabama, at the Annual Shrimp Festival under the Craft Tent in the Children's Event Area, which is coordinated by the Resort Ministry of the Baldwin Baptist Association.

In 2008we also took Prayer Requests and prayed with people at a Prayer Request Table under the same tent.   Some of our men helped put up sheetrock at the Friendship Baptist Church nearby.   We sang some Special Music one night at the Romar Beach Baptist Church, where we lodged in their Retreat Center.
In 2009, we did the same things as in 2008, except the men did light construction work at the Fish River Baptist Church, and the group sang some Special Music in the Morning Worship Service at the Romar Beach Baptist Church.
In 2010, 2011 and 2012,  we served the Lord at the Shrimp Festival doing Crafts with the children, taking Prayer Requests and Praying, as well as handing out free Bibles.
(In 2012, during the Festival, we handed-out 60 free Children's Hands-On Activity Bibles donated by our Church Members.)
In 2013, we also went a day early to canvass the Campground at the State Park, serve a Hot Dog Supper, and lead a special Campground Service under the stars.   During the Festival, we were blessed to hand-out 300 Children's Hands-On Activity Bibles donated by our Church Members and by friends who are members of other Churches.
In 2014, we again went a day early to serve a Pizza Supper and to lead a Campground Service.   During the Festival, we were thrilled and blessed to be able to hand-out 527 Children's Hands-On Activity Bibles donated by our Church Members and by friends who are members of other Churches.
In 2015we again went a day early to serve a Pizza Supper and to lead a Campground Service.  During the Festival, we were thrilled and blessed to be able to hand-out 503 Children's Hands-On Activity Bibles donated by our Church Members and by friends who are member of other Churches.
In 2016we continued to do Crafts with the Children, take Prayer Requests and Pray, and we were thrilled and blessed to be able to hand-out 520 Children's Hands-On Activity Bibles donated by our Church Members and friends.
In 2017, we continued to do Crafts with the Children, take Prayer Requests and Pray, and we were blessed to hand-out around 450 Children's Hands-On Activity Bibles.
In 2018we continued to do Crafts with the Children, take Prayer Requests and Pray, and we were blessed to hand-out 450 Children's Hands-On Activity Bibles, as well as numerous Adult Bibles in different versions.
In 2019, we continued to do Crafts with the Children, take Prayer Requests and Pray, and we were blessed to hand-out 409 Children's Hands-On Activity Bibles, 24 Student Bibles, and numerous Adult Bibles in different versions.
In 2020, they  had to cancel the Shrimp Festival due to COVID-19, so we were unable to  have our Mission Trip in 2020.
Since 2010, we have been serving only through Saturday at Noon, so we can travel home on Saturday evening to allow us to be in our places of service in our own church on Sunday mornings.   On Sundays, many of our Senior Adults teach Sunday School, sing in the Choir, and serve in Deacon Security.

We love to put our faith into action as we share the love of God in any way that we can.   In serving, we are the ones who are truly blessed.   In our preparations for the serving at the festival, we always sing the song, "Little is Much When God is in It."  This message is so true, and we give God all of the praise!
